Obituary - Lloyd A. Waldrep

Waldrep, Lloyd A. age 86, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014, and is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers. Lloyd was strong in his Christian faith and loved the Lord. A native Texan, he was a WWII Navy veteran (Seaman, Commissaryman Striker) and later worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and owned his own TV/sound system repair and installation business. He is survived by wife Janet, sons Mark and Darren (Laura), grandson Aaron, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayzata on Tuesday, April 29 at 11:00 am with lunch afterwards, followed by military honors burial at Fort Snelling. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials preferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 115 Wayzata Blvd. W., Wayzata, MN 55391. Lloyd had been an avid researcher on the family history of the Waldrep Family.

Charlotte Mae Hyde turns 100

In the late afternoon of May 22, 1914, Annie Hyde went out to milk the cow. As she headed for the cow, she began having stomach pains. She turns and says to no one in particular," go get Dr. Welchel, I think the time has come." She goes on to milk the cow as Dr. Welchel comes into the yard. Annie tells him to smoke his pipe while she milked the cow. When she was through, she turns to Dr. Welchel and says, "OK, I am ready. Lets get it over with." A short time later, Charlotte Mae Hyde was delivered into this world. She was the second of eight children to be born to Annie Odessa WALDREP Hyde. She is presently the oldest living descendant of James Lafayette WALDREP. This took place on Tower Street, New Holland, Georgia.

Obituary for Ernest Felton Waldrep

Ernest Felton Waldrep, age 87, of Marietta, died July 7, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on July 10th, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, with Rev. Chuck Whitaker officiating. Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughter, Pam Waldrep Stephens and her husband, Jim, of Woodstock; son, Steve and his wife, Barbara of Marietta; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Mr. Waldrep was a WWII Veteran in the Army’s 82nd Airborne. He fought in the Battle of Normandy on D-Day; in France and Germany; and, lived in Austria for a short time after the war. He retired from AT&T after 34 years. He was an outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, and enjoyed spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids. Obituary for Betty Wilson Allen

From Cousin Gary Waldrep on the passing of Betty Wilson Allen:

For those originally from Hall County, or lived and paid taxes in Gainesville, or are familiar with the Family history of the Wilson side, Grandma Beulah Wilson Waldrep's family, we have lost a cousin, Betty Wilson Allen, today, 18 February 2014, at age 79. She marked and celebrated her 79th Birthday just this past January,19th.

Betty had been battling heart problems for a few years, and was released from the hospital just before her birthday in January after having some complications around the end of last year.

Anybody who ever paid taxes in Gainesville probably would have seen Betty's name on the City Tax letters or statements since she was the City Tax Clerk from 1962 until 1992. And, if anybody ever wanted to get something done that they didn't think was getting done from paying their taxes, then, Betty was THE ONE to talk to!!! It would be hard to say that Betty was an intimidating person, but she COULD MAKE things happen!!!

She was also known because her late father, Calvin "Cal" Wilson, was the Hall County Sheriff for a long time in the 1950s. Working for Cal at the Sheriff's office got her involved in Civil Service work, into which she moved, to continue at the City of Gainesville Tax office.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 20, 2014 in the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel for Betty W. Allen age 79 of Gainesville. The Rev. Terry Crawford will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Allen passed away Tuesday February 18, 2014.
Mrs. Allen was born in Hall County to the late Calvin William “Cal” Wilson (Former Hall County Sheriff 1950-1960) and Ila Mae Ivey Wilson. She was the youngest of her parents four children and a member of New Holland Baptist Church. A lifelong resident of Gainesville and Hall County, she graduated from Airline High School in 1953. While in high school, Betty was a cheerleader and she also helped her father, Sheriff Cal Wilson in his office.
Her first job after graduating high school was with a local attorney and then with the Hall County Board of Education. On January 1, 1957, Betty became her father's full time secretary in the Hall County Sheriff's Office during his tenure in office. Betty was well versed in the activities in the Sheriff's Office as the Sheriff's personal secretary and assumed many of the duties while her father and his deputies were out in the county. As secretary, one of her duties was tag sales, and she had the honor of getting the first tag sold making her tag number 11-1, based on Hall County being number 11 at the time according to the population.
After the civil service test, Betty was hired on January 1, 1962 as a tax clerk for the city of Gainesville. At the time she was the youngest employee in the office. Betty retired in 1992 having worked the same job as tax clerk. On her retirement, Betty said, “the biggest regret in retiring from the city was missing the people.” Betty enjoyed people and history, and she played a big role in the history of Gainesville and Hall County during her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Allen, Brothers, J.T. Wilson, Clarence “Bo Bo” Wilson and Sister, Sacele Helen Wilson Guthrie.
Survivors include nephew and niece Calvin and Teri Wilson, great-niece and nephew Lindsay and Bo Brison, nephew, Donald Guthrie, niece and nephew, Phyllis and George Zulouga, nephew and niece, Steven and Elaine Wilson, niece and nephew, Vickie and Paul Stover, nephew and niece, Tim and Lisa Allen, niece, Lynn Redmon, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Denver and Florene Allen, sisters-in-law, Estelle Allen, Coralee Wilson, cousins, Marilyn Moore, Gale Moore, Arlin Pitts, and a special friend, Bill Stephens.

Louis Lee, Martin Houston and Joe Brown Waldrep Family

Here is some information I found on your 2^nd great grandfather Louis Lee Waldrep who was a brother to my 2^nd great grandfather, Perrin Waldrep. Their parents were Joseph L. Waldrope, b. 1794 in Lauren, SC, d. in 1870 in Habersham County, GA. Joseph married Tabitha D. McIntyre.

Louis Lee WALDROUP was married to Elizabeth Bramblett. He was born in 1833 and died in 1890.
He was Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Clarkesville, GA from 1874 through 1881 according to minutes of the church. The minutes give his name as Louis L. Waldroup. This information provided by Mrs.Doris B. Quarles, Route 2, Box 2756; Cornelia, Georgia 30531 in a letter dated January 5, 1993.
He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, Clarkesville, GA according to the minutes of Providence Baptist Church in 1868. He is buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery and his headstone reads "Rev. L.L. Waldrup", "B. July, 26 1833 D. Oct. 1, 1890"In the 1870 Habersham County census, John L. Harris, age 77, born in SC, was living with him and his family.
In 1880 census of Habersham Co Ga.
His Civil War service according to LDS Film 359562, showing his Widow's Pension application of 29 Oct 1926, shows him serving from enlistment 10 May 1864 at Cleveland, White County, GA until discharged April 1865 at Augusta, GA in Co. C, Youngs Bat. He was the Chaplain according to information from Joe B. Waldrep, Jr.
He was also pastor of other churches in the northeast Georgia area, one was Hazel Creek Baptist Church.
1860/80 Census Habersham Co., Ga., living next door to "Newman" which is Namon. Enlisted 10 May 1864, Cleveland, Georgia, Company C, Young's Battalion.
According to the minutes of the church, he was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, Batesville, Georgia in 1868. Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Clarkesville, Georgia from 1874 through 1881. Documented through the minutes of the church. Buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. His headstone reads: L.L. Waldrup, born 26 Jul 1835, died 1 Oct 1890.

Martin married Lula Sabina KINSEY daughter of Elijah KINSEY and Martha Elizabeth BROOKS on 12 May 1901 in Habersham Co, GA. Lula was born on 17 Feb 1883 in , Habersham Co, GA. She died on 28 Jan 1930 in Clarkesville, Habersham Co, GA. She was buried in Clarkesville, Habersham Co, GA at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
